Our Trustees

The Fund is governed and managed by a group of Trustees. Initially there were three Trustees, each representing a stage in Brian’s life:

  • Gordon Porter, a transport engineer and a Divisional Director with consultant Mott MacDonald who had met Brian when they were both studying Civil Engineering at the University of Bristol; they remained close friends until Brian’s death

  • David Bayliss, who as Chief Transport Planner at the Greater London Council had guided Brian’s development as a transport planner

  • Martin Richards, Managing Director of The MVA Group, a colleague of Brian’s since 1975.

There are now four Trustees:

  • Nick Dybeck, Brian’s nephew.  Like Brian, Nick is a chartered civil engineer, but has had a career in contracting and is currently a Director at H W Martin Safety Fencing Ltd.

  • Dougie McDonald, who joined MVA in 1989, the year that Brian died.  In 2014, Dougie moved from MVA to join consultants Peter Brett Associates LLP where he is their Partner managing their Scottish business.

  • Martin Richards, who retired from MVA in 2000 and has since been deeply involved in the education, training and professional recognition of transport planners.

  • Mick Roberts, who, like Brian, was a Director of The MVA Group, having been responsible for MVA’s UK business for many years. Mick retired in 2011.

Martin is the Fund’s Administrator and Nick is the Treasurer.
